WHY GRASS-FED AND / OR FREE-RANGE?
All of the terms “grass-fed,” “free-range,” “organic,” “hormone-free,” “antibiotic-free,” etc. seem like they should be a no-brainier when it comes to farming these types of animals. The sad reality is that most animals are no longer fed proper, healthy foods or let out of their cages for five minutes during the day.1
WHAT AM I EATING?
Most of the meat that you are getting from your grocery store is from farms that treat their animals like garbage.1 They are stressed out, crammed into tight living corners, pumped full of hormones to increase their size and fed poor quality GMO corn and soy all day long.1 This process gets that meat from their farm to your plate fast and cost efficiently, but produces poor quality, unhealthy meat. In particular, the hormones and other artificial chemicals added to these poor-quality foods can cause inflammation, which can lead to more health problems and weight gain down the road. Exactly like choosing organic produce, when you choose high-quality meats, in which the animals were treated the right way during their lives, not only is the meat going to taste better, but it will also provide you with the proper nutrition that your body thrives on.
HERE ARE A FEW PROTEINS TO AVOID
– Processed meat from fast-food restaurants
– Cold cuts
– Factory farm meats from most grocery stores and restaurants
– Meats in frozen prepared foods
– Hot dogs
YOU HAVE TO EAT IT
What I am really trying to say is that high-quality proteins will provide you with all the essential amino acids, which your body needs in order to create its own, working proteins; low-quality proteins WILL NOT do this. If your current eating habits don’t provide you with enough essential amino acids, your cells will your body begins to break down muscle proteins from your own body to cope with the absence. In addition, they will also start to conserve these essential amino acids by limiting the amount used in protein synthesis – the process of your body using amino acids to make new cells. This is ANOTHER reason why choosing top-quality proteins will help you advance to higher levels of fitness!
